Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Startern app and website. By creating an account or otherwise using Startern, you agree to them.
Effective May 8, 2026
1. What Startern is
Startern is a job-discovery service that aggregates internship and job listings from public sources and partner companies, and surfaces them to candidates through a mobile app and website.
Startern is not the employer. When you apply to a listing, you are interacting with the company that posted it. We do not guarantee that any specific listing is current, accurate, available, or that it will result in a job offer.
2. Eligibility
You may use Startern if you are at least 12 years old and capable of forming a binding contract under the laws of your country. If you are between 12 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and accepted these terms on your behalf.
Some features (such as applying to roles or contacting employers) may require you to meet the minimum legal working age in your jurisdiction. You are responsible for knowing and respecting that age.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your password and Google account secure. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
- You agree to provide accurate information. Fake names, fake emails, or impersonating someone else is not allowed.
- One person, one account. Selling, transferring, or sharing accounts is not allowed.
- You can delete your account at any time on the account-deletion page.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, copy, or republish listings or other Startern content in bulk, including via automated tools, without our written permission.
- Reverse-engineer the app, attempt to access the backend other than through the official client, or interfere with how Startern runs.
- Submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, misleading, infringes someone else’s rights, or contains malware.
- Use Startern to spam employers, candidates, or our support channels.
- Apply to listings under a false identity, or submit a CV that is not yours.
- Use Startern in a way that violates the laws that apply to you or to us.
Violations may result in immediate suspension or deletion of your account, with or without notice.
5. Listings and third-party content
Job and internship listings displayed in Startern are sourced from third parties — public job boards, company career pages, and direct partners. We make a reasonable effort to keep listings fresh and relevant, but:
- Listings may be outdated, incomplete, or removed at any time by the source.
- We do not verify the legitimacy of every employer. Use your judgement, and never pay an “employer” up front for a job, equipment, or training.
- Any agreement you reach with an employer (offer, contract, payment, working conditions) is between you and them. Startern is not a party to it.
If you believe a listing is fraudulent or misleading, please report it to support@startern.pro and we will review it.
6. Your content
When you upload a CV, avatar, message, or any other content to Startern (“Your Content”), you keep ownership of it. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, transmit, and display Your Content for the sole purpose of operating the service for you (e.g. forwarding your application to the employer you chose, displaying your avatar in your profile).
You confirm that Your Content is yours to share and that sharing it through Startern does not violate anyone else’s rights.
7. Our content
The Startern app, website, branding, and the way listings are curated and ranked belong to us. You may use them only as part of using the service for its intended purpose. You may not copy our design or extract our data to build a competing product.
8. Premium features
Some features (for example AI-based CV matching, application tracking, or removing in-app advertising) may be offered as paid plans now or in the future. If we introduce a paid plan:
- Pricing, billing cycle, and the features included will be shown clearly before you subscribe.
- Unless stated otherwise at purchase, subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your app store (Google Play / App Store).
- Refunds are handled by the app store you bought through, in line with their refund policy.
9. Service availability
Startern is provided on a best-effort basis. We may modify, pause, or discontinue parts of the service at any time. We aim to give notice for material changes when reasonable, but we do not promise a specific level of uptime.
10. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Startern is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee:
- That you will receive a job, an interview, or a reply.
- That listings are accurate, current, or that the employer is legitimate.
- That the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Startern, its team, and its providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including lost opportunities, lost income, or damages arising from your interactions with an employer.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you (for example, liability for fraud, gross negligence, or your statutory consumer rights).
12. Termination
You can stop using Startern and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, create risk for other users, or if we are required to by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (§§ 6, 7, 10, 11) will continue to apply.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product or applicable law changes. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective” date and notify you in-app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Startern after the update means you accept the new version.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Startern is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. We will first try to resolve any dispute with you informally — please email support@startern.pro before taking any other step.
Nothing in this section removes any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of your home country, including the right to bring a claim before the courts of that country.
